Oh, I thought it was funny, up to a point. There were several other S1 episodes I found funnier and more engaging, though.

I've seen a few other cartoons do episodes composed of short parodic TV vignettes, but they either have more of a background story to them, or they take up a shorter running time (7-12 minutes instead of 22).

I was finally able to watch "Interdimensional Cable Part 2," and yeah... it really wasn't all that great. What made the first one work is that the idea hadn't been done before (on Rick and Morty at least), and no one was expecting anything like it. Repeating the exact same idea a second time and making sure that everyone knows what it's going to be kind of ruins the magic.

At least now we know how plumbises are made.

Okay, as amazing as "Total Rickall" was, that season finale was even better.

Season Two has been mostly strong, give or take a couple of dud episodes (I didn't really care for the second "Interdimensional Cable 2", for example.) But that finale was a potpourri of everything the series does right, and an excellent one at that. The animated format provides the writers with seemingly limitless possibilities, and cross-bred with the general insanity of Adult Swim, we got a story that perfectly combined a crazy sci-fi story (with everything from outlandish designs, innovative planets, and a married couple voiced by Baltar and Six from Battlestar Galactica) with the most touching familial story the show has done yet. The emotional scenes, in fact, provided the only moments in the episode where I wasn't keeling over from laughter.

I can't wait for Season Three. I hope Mr. Poopybutthole is wrong, though, and that it won't take that long to arrive.

I was not as big on the season finale as you were Jeremy, just because I think there was a lot less unpredictability associated with it (other than the wedding shootout, which was great) in favour of dealing with the emotional fallout. And the show does OK with emotional fallout, but I think the more spectacular thing is the face that there's emotional fallout at all with all the crazy stuff that happens. The show works best for me when it's dialed up on the crazy and builds the emotions from that, the finale was a little too dialed down for my liking. There's a lot of shows that could do the thing that Rick and Morty does at the end of the episode, there's no other show that can do "Total Rickall."

As for Season 2 as a whole, it was very uneven and that prevents Rick and Morty from being one of the top 5 (maybe even 10 if I were able to get to them all in a timely fashion) shows on TV for me, but when it reaches it's highs, like "Total Rickall" or the plot line with Summer and the car that's protecting her in "The Ricks must Be Crazy" or the Jerry Daycare in "Mortynight Run", there's no show that can quite reach the level it can reach.

Oh, Rick and Morty won't be making my Top 10 for the year, either. As you say, it's uneven on a seasonal level, and even the funniest bits can be compromised by some wildly uncomfortable moments. But no other show mixes quite the level of darkness and dementia as this series does, and so when the laughs come, they come hard.

Sigh. Mr. Poopybutthole was right, after all.

But it's been confirmed that S3 will premiere by the end of 2016.

That article was written in October, before all the rumors of animation delays and stuff started going around. I think Mr. Poopy Butthole wasn't correct, but his estimate was closer than I would have liked. Apparently the scripts are finished though.

There's also this, which has been making the rounds.

It's a real court case that Justin Roiland read in the voices of Rick and Morty, which was placed onto a bare-bones animatic to show at the San Diego comic-con. A fan then took the audio and fully animated it, such that it looks exactly like the animation in the actual show.

So, has anyone else gotten their Galactic Federation Rewards card yet?

I'll never think the same way about eating pizza again.

It really amazes me how much of an online sensation this show has become in the space of a few short years. (And to think it may never have existed if Dan Harmon hadn't been fired from Community...)

Also, I'm taking bets on whether Rick and Morty or Review will return to TV first. (Both shows concluded their respective second seasons back in early October 2015.) My money's on Review, since it's a shorter season and production has allegedly wrapped, but I haven't heard so much as a whisper about its premiere date.

Dammit, Zarnium, every time you post in this thread, I think there's been a Season 3 release date update!
